Welcome to Iglesia Biblica Nuevo Amanecer

by Grant Hoel | June 8, 2024 8:36 PM

We received a warm welcome with the pastor and his family as we arrived the evening. Here we are gathering for our orientation meeting just before we enjoyed birthday carrot cake which was made special for our three birthdays today  by our church cooks. From there we had a delicious Costa Rican dinner and planned for a full day of ministry tomorrow. Thank you, church family, for supporting the team and praying for us!

Church Day!

by Grant Hoel | June 9, 2024 7:58 PM

One of the highlights for every trip is the church day and today was no different. We were able to participate in the church service with the locals here in Upala. What's more, we had the honor of hosting most of the parts of the service including worship (with banners), testimonies, and the sermon. The church even surprised us with a Christian mariachi singer at the end!

The next few pictures are from that service.

We had the opportunity to gather some kids to have a mini soccer camp with a little skills training, followed by a few scrimmages with varying degrees of competitiveness, and a snack time at the end. A good time was had by all!

Hammering slag, brushing rust, and painting the fence

by Grant Hoel | June 10, 2024 2:41 PM

Today started like the others with some quiet time, a devotional and a delicious breakfast. From there we split into two groups: one to prep the new fence for paint and the other to go grocery shopping for the food distribution for the week. We are looking forward to the thankful and encouraged recipients of the food as well as the end product of a beautiful new fence.

Distributing the Food

by Grant Hoel | June 11, 2024 9:15 PM

Here the team spent some time with the gentleman and his wife (90 & 80 respectively). They were both very grateful for the visit from the team. They said that they felt that the Lord visited them through the team.

First Day of VBS

by Grant Hoel | June 11, 2024 9:17 PM

Here we are spending time getting to know the kids as they arrive and before the lesson & skit.  It was so fun to talk with these amazing, and shy, kids as they began to open up about themselves.

Kicking off another beautiful day in Costa Rica with morning devotionals. Thanks for sharing the Word with us, Nick!

Morning Minstries

by Grant Hoel | June 11, 2024 9:45 PM

For the morning the team split up for more ministry painting the fence for the church and delivering groceries to members of the community. Here we have one of these community members share about their life as we encourage them and pray for them. Every person we visited today said they felt as though the Lord visited them through our group today. The people from the church pointed out how rare and how special it was that each person was recognizing the presence of God through the visits. Not that there is anything special about us, but that small acts of Love demonstrate the love of Jesus.

Youth Night!

Youth Ministry was a blast!

And we couldn't ended it in a better way: sharing the Good News to this new generation. We believe God will squeez  them with his great love and mercy instead of the sin and temptation leaving them lifeless.

Last Day of Ministry

by Grant Hoel | June 12, 2024 11:11 PM

Today was a great day of ministry as we wrap up our time here! After the morning devotional and breakfast half of the group began the final work on the fence while the other loaded up the bus with groceries for our house visits. I was with the house visits this time. We really enjoyed the company of the people we visited. They were so gracious as we dropped in and asked them about their lives! We asked how we could pray for them and prayed for those specific needs.

Bingo!

by Grant Hoel | June 12, 2024 11:49 PM

We invited the elders to the church to play bingo. We served them coffee and snacks while they filled their cards. They really enjoyed the afternoon out. Everyone won a prize and a few even shared their musical gifts with us.

The Good Shepherd

by Grant Hoel | June 12, 2024 11:51 PM

During Elders Ministry Luis sang a song about how God leave the 99 sheep to go and find the one that is lost.

Remembering the unconditional love that God has for us. We will carry that memorie in our hearts!
