Solid Rock Youth Group

We made it to Thorn Creek Reformed Church, our home for the week! Pastor Mark talked to us about the South Holland area, and he shared his vision for an intercultural church that serves the communities in and around South Chicago. We had our first team meeting for the week, and met members from the Nicholasville Methodist Church, who we’ll be serving alongside. We are excited for a week of service in Chicago! 

Here we are after church. We learned about the Holy Spirit during the service and we are looking forward to having lunch with the congregation. 

We were able to lead worship at church this morning, and we did a fantastic job!

We went to the lakefront and spent time in prayer and worship. The water and city view was so beautiful! 

We spent the day demoing and cleaning up Transformation Church after a sewer backup. We got an incredible amount of work done!

Supply is the name of the young adult church group that meets every Monday at Thorn Creek. We enjoyed getting to know the group members and sharing a meal with them! After a lesson, we played a hilarious game of Giant Gaga Ball!

What a wonderful way to celebrate your birthday - on a mission trip in Chicago! We loved to celebrate these two tonight! Our trip leader even made us ice cream cakes for dessert. 

Half of our group sorted clothes for the shelter, and we went through quite a bit! 

We tried Portillos today and loved it!! Most of us tried the chocolate cake shake, and would probably get it again. It’s easy to see why this place is a Chicago favorite!
