Journey Mennonite Church

We’ve arrived after 2 long days of traveling and are getting settled into our new home for the week. We went over the rules and learned to watch out for bears this week! 

As we start the week, we’re learning and practicing what it means to pray for those around us, before we go out and engage with the community. 

Happy birthday to Cal! We’re so excited to celebrate you today. Glad you joined us on your birthday. 

Today we helped out around the community and the school. This group took apart, moved, and relocated a fence for Mrs Kim! Great job! 

Some of us helped clean up around our host school. They pressure washed the building and the porches, did some general clean up, and painted. 

It may not be spring, but today we did some “spring cleaning.” We had a team who emptied out one of the sheds at the host school. We pulled everything out, went through it, and put back what wasn’t trash. 

Today a few of us are at Center For Hope Thrift Store helping out. We’re helping them clean up, sort through donations, and hang up clothes. 

Today and yesterday some small crews spent some time helping out Mr. Dave. Moving cement, cleaning out gutters, getting dirt, and fellowshipping with him.  

Tonight’s activity was making race cars with a group. Tonight was about building and decorating, but they’ll be racing them another night after they dry. 

This week we also partnered with God’s Way Home ministry. They help men overcome their addictions and find Jesus. Yesterday afternoon and this morning only a few of us got to go and help. 

This afternoon we all got to go help at God’s Way Home. We helped get a house ready for 6 men to begin their journeys to freedom. 

After finishing our work at God’s Way Home, we had the opportunity to hear some of the men’s stories, worship with them, and pray for them and for each other. It was powerful to see the Spirit working in the room.
